The Legends of Christmas

About the Concert

Christmas music is ubiquitous with holiday events across the world. In America, school and
community band concerts serve as important local events that bring people together to
celebrate peace, love, and a renewed appreciation for the gifts in our lives. Like other historical
events, folklore and storytelling have led to interesting “Legends.” Over time, history has given
us interesting fairytales, many of which grew from efforts to help inspire children’s behavior
throughout the year.

This year, the Tampa Bay Symphonic Winds winter program “Legends of Christmas” will explore
many different facets of Christmas legends. There will also be other legendary holiday works for
the band in addition to our traditional concert-ending Christmas Pops sing-along.

Christmastime can also be a difficult time for many who face loss, struggles, loneliness and
other challenges. The Tampa Bay Pride Band is pleased to work with those in our community
who are in need. Over the years, we have supported food banks, mental health initiatives, and
provided a “family” of band musicians to belong to through musical and social events. The
Tampa Bay Pride Band was born not just to create a performance opportunity for local
musicians, but also to create a home for LGBTQIA+ musicians and their allies who act to support
our local community. This Christmas holiday, we will be honored to share our “Legends of
Christmas” program alongside our community activism in support of our guiding principle
“Empowered by Pride. United by Community. Inspired by Music.” – Happy Holidays
