Spring Outdoor Concert: Concierto de Fuego

About the Concert

Due to its highly syncretic nature, Latin American music encompasses a wide variety of styles, including influential genres such as bachata, bossa nova, merengue, rumba, salsa, samba, son, and tango. During the 20th century, many styles were influenced by the music of the United States giving rise to genres such as Latin pop, rock, jazz, hip hop, and reggaeton. The Concerto de Fuego concert will concentrate on Latin instrumental music and/or composers. The concert program will consist of a wide range of Latin style music from a variety of Latin and non Latin composers. Generally, Latin style music has a board appeal to most audiences.  It’s complex rhythms and large percussion section easily lends itself to dance. This style of concert program in an outdoor setting of the Waterworks at that time of the year will make for a great segue to summer.
