The Tampa Bay Pride Band is an all-inclusive LGBT and Straight Wind Ensemble and Marching band supporting the LGBT community in the Bay area. We are a non-audition community band. We encourage musicians of all ability levels to join our band. Our aim is to present and promote music of the highest artistic quality. The emphasis is on playing music in a fun and welcoming environment.
Attendance at rehearsals and performances is of paramount importance for a quality ensemble. Each member is responsible for making their section leader aware of conflicts as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly for the group.
Uniforms for parades will be the black TBPB shirt with black shorts, black shoes, and black socks unless otherwise advised. Uniform shirts will be available for purchase for $15 upon registration. Uniforms are the responsibility of the performer.
Membership and dues:
A membership fee of $30 each fall and each spring is collected from every band member participating in the Tampa Bay Pride Band and Tampa Bay Symphonic Winds by the Treasurer. This fee entitles the band member to check out music for concerts and/or parades. Fees also cover rental space and other operational expenses. Band members are entitled to a receipt of this transaction upon request. Membership fees are due on or before the 3rd rehearsal. Students’ membership fee is $15 each fall and each spring. Under certain hardship conditions, the membership fee can be waived if approved by the Board President.
In addition to the membership fee, all Tampa Bay Pride Band members participating in the marching band are required to pay an additional t-shirt fee. The amount of the t-shirt is dependent on external factors and will be announced prior to the date of purchase, which can be found on the website. Paying this fee covers one parade t-shirt for the band member. Band members who own a parade t-shirt from a previous year that matches the current version will be exempt from paying this fee, contingent on wearing shirt to the parade. Players without a shirt must purchase one on the day of the parade.
Rehearsal and Concert Expectations:
Tampa Bay Pride Band rehearsal is based off the long-standing orchestral tradition of rehearsal and concert etiquette. All performers should arrive early and prepared with all material for a successful rehearsal. Each member shall be responsible for preparing their music based off the notes and markings from the previous rehearsal.
In the event that you can not complete a concert after committing to a performance, you are responsible for finding a suitable replacement prior to the concert. If a conflict or emergency were to come up, please notify your section leader immediately.
